Why Every Woman Needs a Girl Gang to Work Out With

There are plenty of reasons to exercise.

Better health. More energy. Stronger muscles. Stress relief.

But after years of fitness classes, I’ve discovered something even more powerful than the workout itself:

The women you do it with.

Every weekday morning at 5:30 AM, a group of us shows up at SpinCo Oak Bay. We roll in wearing our matching Alo sets, coordinating colors (because why not?), and ready to tackle a workout that challenges us physically and mentally.

To some people, it might look like we’re simply showing up for spin class.

But it’s so much more than that.

It’s accountability.

It’s friendship.

It’s laughter before sunrise.

It’s knowing someone is waiting for you when your alarm goes off and you’d much rather stay in bed.

The Secret Ingredient to Wellness

Research continues to show that social connection is one of the most important factors in long-term health and happiness.

Women with strong friendships often experience:

  • Lower stress levels
  • Improved mental health
  • Increased confidence
  • Greater resilience
  • Better overall well-being

And when you combine friendship with exercise, the benefits multiply.

You work harder.

You stay more consistent.

You show up more often.

And perhaps most importantly, you enjoy the process.

When a Workout Becomes a Community

What started as a fitness class has become something much bigger.

It’s become a community.

A place where women encourage one another, celebrate victories, support each other through challenges, and build friendships that extend far beyond the bike.

Some mornings we’re energized.

Some mornings we’re exhausted.

Some mornings we’re simply showing up because we know the group is counting on us.

And honestly?

Those are often the most important workouts.

Health Is More Than Fitness

The older I get, the more I realize that wellness isn’t just about what we eat or how many calories we burn.

It’s about connection.

It’s about belonging.

It’s about surrounding yourself with people who inspire you to become the best version of yourself.

Those relationships have a powerful impact on our physical, mental, and emotional health.

And that’s something no fitness tracker can measure.

Why We Keep Coming Back

Yes, we love our Alo outfits.

Yes, we love matching colors.

Yes, we love being a little extra.

But what we really love is the incredible community we’ve built together.

Because a girl gang doesn’t just make workouts more fun.

It makes life better.

And that’s a wellness habit worth keeping.

💜 See you at 6:00 AM.
